HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE Do Gooders! As the last 365 days come to a close, it’s typical for us to make aspirations on how to make ourselves or our circumstances better. But what if this year, we focused on what we could do to make our communities better, or how we could help to improve someone else’s life?
Maybe that’s the lesson we can take from 2020, that doing things for our own sake isn’t enough. This year we saw how much love matters, how much community matters, how much sticking up for others matters.
TOOLS, TACTICS AND TIPS
While driving Mavis this week, the audiobook “Kisses From Katie” has been our time passer.
And WOW this book is full of inspiration. Katie Davis moved to Uganda after graduating high school and ended up starting a non-profit to send Ugandan kids to school. Her insights at such a young age are astounding and have prompted some much needed conversations between the two of us on what we want our lives to stand for. 1. “Over time, though, the small changes add up. Sometimes they even transform cities and nations, and yes, the world.”
Don’t discount the small steps you take, when added up, they move mountains.
2. “I can't see the end of the road, but here is the great part: Courage is not about knowing the path. It is about taking the first step.”
Starting can be the hardest part, but setting yourself in motion is BRAVE and what turns all your Do Good ideas into reality!
3. “...the crazy thing is, it is so simple. Don’t misunderstand; it is not easy. But it is simple in that each and every one of us was ultimately created to do the same thing. It will not look the same. It may take place in a foreign land or it may take place in your backyard, but I believe that we were each created to change the world for someone. To serve someone.” YES. We believe that too. We all have a special mission placed on our heart. Take some time to sit, reflect, think, to find out what Do Good Mission you were made for.
